Stop Press: More Members needed to come out "on task".
Most Sundays from 10am to 3pm our group are coppicing, scrub clearing, tree planting or hedgelaying at some beautiful location in the Isle of Wight countryside. We are a hands-on team, not a pressure group, out in most weather and are of all ages and walks of life. We really want more people to come and try their hand and our Membership Secretary, Richard Day, on 01983 295927, will be pleased to tell you where the next task, as we call it, will be. We can help if you need a lift. If you enjoy yourself and decide to join membership is only £2.50 which covers insurance and a quarterly bulletin. Please click on "Event Calendar" to see our forthcoming programme.

Nature on the Map

English Nature's "Nature on the Map" is useful for locating and finding information about the sites where we work as they are often SSSI's or Nature Reserves. For example, click on the link below and type in "rew down" in the box. In one more click you will see a detailed map which you can zoom in and out of to help you find your way there. If a work site is not listed just type in the name of the nearest village or landmark, e.g. "chillerton". You can go on to read any SSSI's citation and discover what a valuable place the Island is for nature. We have now added "Streetmap" links to help you find your way - see below.

The Future of the Group

The group's continued existence is dependent on turn-out, ideally averaging five persons per task. We hope new members will continue to come out on Sundays once they have experienced the enjoyment of beneficial exercise outdoors. "Event Calendar" shows Winter and Spring 2011's programme.

Maps to Work Sites added to Our Links Page

Thanks to Streetmap we have been able to give links to maps of task locations. Please click on our Links Page. You can zoom in and out to "get your bearings".
