THOMAS Slingo: Born 6th Jan 1799, baptised 17 Feb. 1799 Crondall. Married Jane Javes 16th February 1823 in Crondall, Attending the wedding was their son Soloman, who was baptised on the same day, (Jane was a servant at Ewshott, and was baptised 15 August 1802 in Crondall Parish, born on the 21 July the same year to William and Priscilla Javes.) witnesses to the wedding were Charlotte Boxall and George Javes. Nearly one year later her sister was to marry Thomas's brother George.
In the year 1841 it appears in the Calendar of prisoners at Winchester Gaol.

Thomas Slingo, age 42, 10 years Transportation for stealing one Ewe.
Soloman Slingo, age 18, (the son of the above Thomas) to be Whipped and 3 months hard labour, for stealing the same Ewe.
Timothy Hill, age 25, 12 months hard labour in Bridewell, for stealing the same Ewe.
It was charged that on the 10th of June 1841 they stile a Ewe, the propety of Samuel Andrews.
On the 18 October 1857 Jane (Javes) Slingo remarries to David Cook at Bisley Surrey.
Thomas our elusive convict has been found. Information received from the Joint Copying Project indicates that Thomas never left England. It appears he remained in prison or on a hulk until September 21st 1846 when he was granted a Free Pardon. He is described as being of dark complexion; thin build,5ft 4 3/4 inches in height with a scar on the second finger of his left hand and a scar on his right elbow. He was unknown to the prison system before this date. He is recorded as beign born in Cookham Hants. Wonder where he got to after his release.

George Slingo: who was born 1824 died 1895 in Goornong, Victoria, Australia. age 70. george married Sarah Ansett on the 19th January 1847 and heads to Australia with his wife and son's Henry and William on the Ship UNA in 1852, and lands in Victoria 12th Febuary 1853.
