GEORGE 1770-1842
It starts when George Slingo age 23, and Martha Pretty age 20, (born in Crookham, to Harvy Pretty and Mary Holloway) have their marriage bans called in Crondall on the 26th May, 2nd June and They Were Married at Crondall June 09, 1793 On his Son's William's Marriage Cert. George's ocupation was a Gamekeeper.No other Slingo's are found in the area before that date but Pretty's are, It looks like George moved to Crondall his wife's family area.
( where did George come from it is stated he was born in Hampshire on the 1840 census) George died in Crondall on the 1 Sep 1842, age 72, but Martha appears in the 1850 census age 78 living with her married daughter Elizabeth and her husband William at Dogmersfield, also in the household was daughter Sarah age 34, as it is sometimes now it seems there was some friction with the inlaws as Martha was described as a pauper and Sarah as a house servant. She was buried at Dogsmerfield, Hampshire September 12th, 1854 she died age 80. The Family of George Slingo and Martha Slingo |
