Spartan win AGAIN.
The third straight win in a row from the Spartan Seniors against a Borough side with only half a team trying kept up the run of wins in this, fast becoming, Annual Grudge Match. Kev and Mac were coerced into bolstering the down on effort and passion Borough side and helped to keep the first half to 2-2. The second half showed the weakness of the soccer in the Borough side. Two wicked deflections into the Borough net followed by a 3rd from Borough ensured a finale finish but Spartan wanted the game more as half the Borough team watched on from a distance. A fifth goal was let in by the Stand in Borough keeper who was fed up with his team watching Spartan walk the field to the Penalty Area. A sixth goal, from a very offside position, ended what was a poor second half Borough performance. The Spartan scorer decided to, very unsportingly, not admit to his BLATENT offside position hence the half goal. Sportsmanship was sadly missing in the tiring and hot game. Roll on next year.
Mac and Kev were getting more passionate as the game went on as the effort and stamina diminished. Matt Ritchie (for Spartan) showed up a lot of older players for a time but was unable to score........thankfully.
Well done to the Mini-Soccer Dads, some of whom were just about walking at the end and the next day.
Mac ( a very pissed off keeper )
Thanks to Eddie for sort of refereeing the game in his usual laid back manner. :-) |
