Teamgym Festival 2006 Details

Treasure Gymnastics Team Gym Festival Report.

After weeks of planning and preparation Sunday’s gym festival was a fantastic success. 19 teams were entered 13 were from Treasure Gymnastics (TG), 3 from waterside gym club and 2 from Horizon team gym club.
Despite having over 150 gymnasts at the venue all day, the competition managed to run to time!

The competition was split in to 5 levels based on age and ability.
The level 1 category was for new gymnasts aged 6 and under, the TG Wyvern girls won the hearts of the judges and Audience with their Barbie girl floor routine.

The level two competition was split in to two age sections over 9 and under 9. The gymnasts performed all three team gym pieces (Floor, trampette and tumble) showing neat and tidy basic skills such as backward rolls and star jumps. In the under 9 section the Wyvern V mixed team had a great competition showing off their potential to come first leading by a whole mark. In 2nd and third place were Wyvern E and Springers P (respectively) separated by only 0.05 of a mark!
In the over 9 section the competition was closely fought, with only 1.3 marks between 1st and 4th! The waterside women’s b team performed a lovely floor routine to come in 1st, the waterside men’s team came 2nd and the Wyvern R team came in third after scoring consistently on all three pieces.

The level 3 competition was the biggest battle with 8 teams and each club represented. The gymnasts all worked really hard and the audience were really impressed with all their performances. A special mention has to go to the TG Woodlands team. The woodlands classes only started after February ½ term and the team have worked together for just 3 weeks on their competition routines, they came in 5th with just 0.7 between them and bronze.
The gold medal in level 3 was taken by the waterside women’s they also won the judges floor award for the best routine of the day. 2nd place went to the Horizon women’s team who scored consistently well and in third place came the TG Wyvern N mixed team who did particular well on tumble.

In level 4 their was a surprise tie for first place when the Treasure Gymnastics mixed team (aged 7-10) came in with exactly the same score as the treasure Gymnastics women’s team (aged 11-15) Showing that the new potential in the club is improving fast. The mixed team’s floor score was particularly good while the women’s team did well on Tumble.

All the helpers and coaches managed to make the day a huge success and a real experience for the gymnasts as the competition was run just as a high level gymnastics competition would be.
The supporters were brilliant clapping and cheering the gymnasts on and the team spirit was great with no bad sportsmanship from any of the competitors, supporters or coaches.

A big thanks to everyone who took part and we look forward to next year!!!

SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OUR JUDGES AND HELPERS
