Emily and Hazel Askew
 | Sat 1st December is our Christmas Gig*
Expect an amazing evening of musical mastery and song. Emily and Hazel are already admired by established folk artists even though they’ve only been playing on the scene for a couple of years. You will find it difficult to sit still when they launch into their rapid-fire repertoire of carefully crafted arrangements. Key changes, slides and syncopation are all part of the musical mastery that contributes to the style and humour that makes their performance so special.
This is what they do:
It’s pitiful and soul-destroying to see these young girls stealing the limelight when the rest of us have been struggling for years to string a few notes together.
Their performance is a real credit to folk music because it shows its true potential as a form of entertainment.
"Between them, they play fiddle and melodeon in folk clubs, their material is mostly traditional, with a few cheeky interlopers.
They have been Semi-Finalists in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award and won the New Roots competition 2005.
Since releasing their debut E.P. “Six By Two” on WildGoose Records in 2005, they always find themselves popular , their favourites include: Sidmouth Folk Week, Towersey Village Festival, and just about everywhere else.
