Meet the Players!!
David Edwards (Eggy) Eggy has played criket on and off since School(It's shows that it's hasn't been regulary). He is a slogging left hander that had an mighty average of 2 for last season. He has recently discovered that he can off spin. He is a joker and keeps team morale up even when we are getting spanked!!
Pete Nicholson (Pete Nics) Pete felt he should take up cricket after winning the Drunken Suppoter Award in 2004. He has since turned into a good wicketkeeper and now opening bowler. He is a competetive player and has this season nearly ended up in a brawl.
Rich Nicholson (Glass hands/Handbag) Rich started playing for us 2 years ago when he took 5 wickets in his 1st ever game. He is known as glass hands and handbags due to his fielding abilities!!
Matt Nicholson (Matty) Matt joined the team as the 3rd Nicholson to try and play cricket. He is a good leg-spinner but fancies himself as a seam bowler. He again is a joker and is most famous with his 4 he hit with the eye in bat! Michael Gray (Dirk Kuyt) Kuyty has joined us this season and has proved himself as a capable slogger. He has also turned his arm over and bowled fairly well. He is the most competetive player in the world and hates losing(He's playing for the wrong team). Andy Tonks (Tonky/Wonky) Tonko is one of our 2 overseas players (South African), he is yet to score a run in his short Valley Park career. Everyone enjoys reminding him of this! Garth Kruger (Garth) Our other South African import, again not too many runs to shout about. However he has recently started bowling some gentle seam that seems to be improving. Mark Powell (Powelly) Powelly has joined us this season, dragged in from Castel di Sangro FC where he is a goalkeeper. Luckily he seems to be able to catch a cricket ball better than he can a football. His bowling is showing much improvement. Richard Maiden (Maiden) Rich has been dragged in to play after many drunken persuations at the Monks. He is a top fielder and looks like he can hold a bat. Matt Hurricks (Ralphie) Ralphie is yet to turn out for us this season, coming up with a mixture of gay excuses, I'm sure we'll see his swing bowling and his batting at some point this season. James Gray Recently joined the club, dragged in by brother Kuyty, he is learning a new cricket shot every week. He hit his 1st 4 on Wednesday and celebrated well. Mike Moreton (Cocky/Mikey) That's me, the skipper! I seem to have taken to wicket keeping this season to allow Pete Nics to bowl. I am hit or miss with the bat as I am a pure slogger. Like to have a laugh wether we win, lose or draw!! |
