Weobley's own Damien Hirst
Weobley’s answer to Damien Hirst, Peter Lippitt, beside his Exhibition entry “Recycling the Rotherwas Ribbon or Sad, the Covering of the Rotherwas Ribbon”. Peter describes this piece, in cork and tin, as “Consenusal Art” which uses material to explain a situation. The situation is well known to Herefordians, and it reflects his anger at the lack of foresite in preserving the 3,000 year old Rotherwas Ribbon that could potentially be a huge attraction for tourists from all over the world. The Ribbon find was described by Archaeologist, Dr Keith Ray, as a very exciting find not just for Herefordshire, and not just the UK, but, it is apparently unique in Europe.
Peter’s work is on sale for £125 at the Weobley Art Exhibition over the August Bank Holiday, together with 346 other works of art and craft. |
