NW Street Signs
A NW street sign is a 300mm (12") diameter circular sign in 11 gauge aluminium and comes complete with two fixing rails to the reverse. The sign is designed with black letters on an orange background, reading "Neighbourhood Watch, supported by the West Mercia Constabulary". The cost per individual sign is £15.00 each, inclusive of VAT.
To enable the sign to be erected, a clip or universal strap is needed to fix into the rail and around the relevant post or lighting column. Various sized clips for this purpose are supplied, ranging in price from £1.00 to £4.00 (inclusive of VAT) depending on the size required. Two clips are required for each sign.
Signs are available from: The Signshop, Herefordshire Commercial Services, Unit 3, Thorn Industrial Estate, Hereford HR6 6JT Tel: 01432 845924 Fax: 01432 845968 (Paul Hill - Signshop Manager)
Before the sign(s) can be erected within the limits of the public highway, it is necessary to obtain from the County Council, as Highway Authority, a Licence under Section 115E of the Highways Act 1980. Application for the licence should be made on the appropriate form, copy of which is obtainable from the West Mercia Police. A plan indicating the proposed location(s) of the sign(s) should accompany the application. Certain rules as to the number and location of the sign(s) per NW scheme apply and are explained in the application document.
Further information regarding the erection of Neighbourhood Watch signs within the limits of the public highway can be obtained from the Director of Environmental Services, Herefordshire Council, County Offices, Bath Street, Hereford HR1 2HQ.
