Hereford Baptist Church

Hereford Baptist Church is a lively Evangelical Church in the heart of the City of Hereford in Commercial Road. For more than 100 years it has been the centre of a Bible-based ministry which brings hope and the promise of new life to all. Its congregation is drawn from outlying villages and the city. Serving our local community, we link with other churches and develop opportunities for Christians to work together.

We welcome everyone to meet with us as we seek to grow together in the love of God. Whether you already know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour or just want to find out more about having a personal relationship with God for yourself, please feel free to join us. We are all on a journey, none of us has arrived, none of us is perfect, and we welcome you to join with us as we seek to follow God's plan for us.

Early in September 2004, Rev. Antony Wareham was inducted as the new Senior Minister. He was joined by Claire Hailwood when she was commissioned as Youth Pastor early in October 2004.

In June 2007 Vladimir Makyeyev, a Youth Pastor from Cherkassy, Ukraine, joined the ministry team to head the 'Project for Migrant and Seasonal Workers' throughout Herefordshire. Based at Hereford Baptist Church, Vladimir will also be working from Gorsley and Ross-on-Wye Baptist churches to minister to migrant and seasonal workers. All three churches will give him vital support and also be running regular Drop-In Centres during the week. He was commissioned to this new service during a special Commissioning Service at Hereford Baptist Church at the end of June 2007. Although Vladimir was planning to stay in Hereford for three years, political and personal circumstances have made it necessary for him and his family to return to Ukraine at the end of December 2007. The Mission to Migrant and Seasonal Workers, however, will carry on under the continued guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We would like to express our deep thanks to Vladimir for the work he has started here and wish him and his family all the richest blessings of our Lord.

As you come to worship with us, please make yourself known to the stewards on the door and sign the visitors book in the Foyer so that we can keep in contact with you.

The Futures of Hereford Baptist Church

We exist to be: A vibrant city centre Baptist church, which wholeheartedly serves and worships God where God is at work in people's lives.

Our vision is to be: The kind of church God wants and the world needs as we seek first His Kingdom.

We recognise the responsibility and privilege of:

* Christian worship which expresses our love for God

* Christian fellowship which expresses our love for one another

* Christian mission which expresses our love for others

We are committed to:

* Knowing God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

* Maturing in our Christian faith and growing in numbers

* Holistic Christian mission centred on the gospel of Jesus Christ

* Genuine Christian fellowship beyond theory into reality which welcomes people and includes people at all life stages

* The dynamic relationship of the word and Spirit of God unleashed amongst us

* Engaging eventful corporate worship that inspires a lifestyle of worship

* Visionary biblical plurality of leadership and church government

* Discipleship and equipping people for the work of 'every member' ministry

* Having faith for the seen and unseen, for the now and the not yet of God's Kingdom

* Prayer and bringing before God the needs of the world and the church

* The city of Hereford, the local region, our nation and the nations of the world as we seek to live out God's purpose and engage in God's mission

* The wider church expressed in our membership of the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Evangelical Alliance and our relationships with other church fellowships

We have identified some key areas for mission and ministry development in 2005 and beyond. These are set out in our Futures of Hereford Baptist Church document.
