A symbolic prohetic picture
 | Recently, one of our church members, Christine, received a prophetic vision which she shared with the church fellowship as follows:
"I was in the church, but there was no roof on it. Instead there was a canopy, rather like the one you get over a bed. When I looked up, it was rather like looking at the roof of a tent with sort of a pale-beige colour. Although I didn't see anyone, I got that impression we were all there. Then an advert came up:
'PRAY-ERS URGENTLY NEEDED!'
I felt that it was saying we needed an army of people gifted in prayer: to pray for a canopy of protection over the church - over the people."
During a Sunday morning service at the end of November, Rev. Antony Wareham took this prophetic word as the basis for his prayer while some church members were invited to give a visual representation of it:
"Lord, protect this church, we pray, as we have people standing here, as if it were representing us all. Lord, you are like a shield; you are our spread, a very present help in time of need. Lord, over our fellowship and over our life together, we pray for your canopy of protection; over our mission, as we live out our faith in the world day by day. Lord, protect your people - some in very difficult, intimidating places. We pray for our children and teenagers in school, for Christians in schools. Lord, we pray for your protection over them. We think of new Christians in our church family here. Protect young converted lives, we pray. Lord, we pray for health and for well-being - physically, emotionally, spiritually. May we be aware of a canopy of protection. Lord, we are aware in our children's work, how the enemy has been coming in... We pray for a canopy of protection over our children's workers here; for our youth leaders and workers in this church; for family life; for marriages. Lord, we pray for your protection in these days. Stir us to pray for a canopy of protection over your people. We are aware that we are part of your church in this city. In our prayers we don't want to be selfish; we pray the same for your people gathering across this city and region this very day. Lord, we thank you for speaking into our lives here. We are seeking to take your prophetic word seriously. Hear our prayers and hear the prayers and longings of our hearts that we carry into this place as we come to worship you: prayers for one another, prayers for people known to us; prayers for situations, some beyond us. Lord, hear our prayers. In Jesus' Name, Amen. |
