Space is fast becoming scarce at Hereford Baptist Church. So many children are attending Sunday morning services and youth activities during the week that it had become necessary to hold Sunday morning sessions at the TGS Bowling premises. This meant a loss of valuable time as teaching material and some 30 young people had to be transported between the two locations every Sunday morning.
A solution to this problem has now been found in the delivery just before Christmas of two Portakabins. These have been installed on the church's car park and, once furnished for youth work, will allow the young people to stay together.
Youth Pastor Claire Hailwood said that the previous situation was a wonderful problem to have but now delights in the new facilities and the opportunities they offer for further growth of the church's youth work.
“There is a growing number of young people at the church and it is not ideal bussing a group of them up to the bowling alley every Sunday,” she explains.
“We have tried reorganising things in the five rooms we have at the back of the church but there is just not enough space.
“The Portakabins are a temporary solution because eventually we will need to think about re-developing the church, although that is a long way off. The cabins will be filled with bean bags, projectors and all the other things we need for activities on a Sunday morning and throughout the week.” |
