A Difficult Start to the 2001 Season
 | With the advent of the foot and mouth epidemic Kington Golf Club was forced to close before the season had started.
Over sixty parents, juniors and club officials attended The Juniors’ Pre-Season Meeting held at The Burton Hotel on Friday 30 March.
Mrs Viv Morgan donated a bottle of wine and President, Sir Andrew Duff Gordon, auctioned it. This more than covered the costs of the hire of the room.

The Burton
 | The Junior Organiser had been in discussions with various clubs and he outlined the offers available to the Juniors. It was felt that Summerhill’s offer was expensive and that Burghill Valley’s offer was the better one and should be taken up i.e. membership for £20 per annum or for as long as our course remained closed, with practice facilities open to us on alternate Thursdays
Shortly after the meeting Rhosgoch Golf Club reopened and offered the Juniors membership for £10 p.a.and practice facilities on the course every Friday night. This offer was accepted with alacrity.

On The Road with LHS Bus
 | Consequently April and May were spent on the roads between Burghill, Rhosgoch and Kington. The Junior Organiser managed to pass a driving test which enabled him to drive the bus which Lady Hawkins’ School generously loaned out whenever it was available.
On Saturday 27 May 2001 Kington Golf Club reopened and today Friday 1 June sees the return of the Junior Section at 5.00 pm.
The Juniors will now meet as scheduled i.e. Friday afternoons at 5.00 (the session being primarily for matches and competitions and Saturday mornings from 09.15 until 10.45. Saturdays being the official practice day with the professional coaching alternate weeks.
