So Incredibly Near
 | The last two days of July saw Kington and Belmont battling it out for a place at Finals Day at Ludlow.
The first leg was played at Kington and at the turn it looked as though the home side would take a big lead down to Belmont but it was not to be.
Captain Pete had an off night and got thumped 6/5 but then Andrew 4/3, Matthew 4/3 and Dan 2/1 changed the picture. At one stage Kington were up in both the last matches but eventually Sam lost 1 down and Ben halved after being 2 up with 3 to play.
Belmont next day saw Pete play much better and secure a half at one. Andrew, our most consistent player throughout the league matches, hung on to win 1 up. Matthew and Dan got halves and Kington just needed a half from either of the last two matches but it did not happen. So Belmont won 3 1/2 to 2 1/2.
And so to the count back which Belmont won by a mere three holes. So near yet so far. |
