Visit to Bath - February 2004
In February of this year members of the Society enjoyed a visit to Bath. Revd John Day led a walk around the ancient town, pointing out various places mentioned in the diary. We saw Gaines' the dentist - now painted bright blue - and the department store where Kilvert bought some rugs for his vicarage at Bredwardine. We saw the Pump Rooms and the Catholic church where Kilvert popped in to pray. We saw Thersie's house and Payne's where Kilvert took a silver cup to be engraved. It was fascinating to see the old buildings Kilvert knew so well, for he often visited Bath. |
