The Top Club in England: An Introduction
 | Last year the club ran a junior site using Communigate – which can still be accessed under 'sports clubs' above. It seemed to serve its purpose very well so this season it’s been decided to run a site which will cater for the whole of the club. It’s hoped that eventually it will be a record cum newsletter for the 2002 season. For those of you who want a more interactive site, still loosely based on KGC, where you can exchange views and news and offer suggestions or merely let off steam please go to http://forums.delphiforums.com/tups

Our Chairman
 | Our Chairman, Barry Pennell, presenting the Quadrangular Shield to Kington Juniors, on Presentation Evening 2001.
Barry is an old (well perhaps not that old) Kingtonian having attended Lady Hawkins Grammar School before joining the family business in town.
He has been a stalwart of the club since time immemorial having been on the committee for more than forty years (eighteen of those as Match Secretary and eighteen as Chairman - one wonders what he did during the other years)! He was captain way back in 1971.

Our Captain
 | Here is a photograph of Vic Baggott our captain for 2002.
How handsome he used to look!
Vic is a native of Coventry but is now resident in Lyonshall.
He spent his formative golfing years at Rhosgoch then moved to greater things up on Bradnor. His grounding at Rhosgoch held him in good stead because he quickly came down to a competitive twelve handicap.
He is one of the few people to have had a word coined in his honour namely 'baggotting'. However the club is watching anxiously to see if the despatching of the gorse will destroy 'baggotting', a hobby taken up by many members.
Vic is also Treasurer and in this capacity he has ensured that the more profligate committee members are hardly allowed to spend a penny. An unfortunate situation when one considers that one or two of them share Private Godfrey's problem! |

Our Lady Captain
 | Mrs. Sylvia Lloyd was born in Liverpool but as Bill Shankley wouldn't pick her she decided to move to the Leominster area.
Her introduction to golf took place at Cadmore Lodge, near Tenbury Wells. Since joining Kington she has reduced her handicap to twenty-three.
She is proud to be captain and hopes that Kington continues to be a thriving and friendly club. |

Junior Captain: Sam Lloyd
 | Sam is a Year 11 student at John Beddoes School, Presteigne.
Before joining Kington he was a member at Rhosgoch GC.
He plays off a 21 handicap but hopes to bring that down dramatically this season.
In 2001 he was a regular member of the very successful junior team which won the Quadrangular Trophy (competing against Aberystwyth, Borth, Chirk and Patshull Park) and got to the quarter finals of The Shropshire & Herefordshire Handicap League |(only losing on a count back).
On a personal note he won the John Hussey Cup which was played at Kington.
