A Hammering
 | With Messrs Handley and Philpotts missing Kington visited Burghill for the return of the County Handicap League match. Even with a weakened side, confidence was high after the 6/0 defeat Burghill had received up on Bradnor a fortnight earlier.
However the omens were not good, when, well before the scheduled start, it was discovered that Thomas Havard, a member of the second team, had decided to play a three ball friendly with two Burghill juniors who were not in any team!
Within a matter of minutes every Kington player was behind. This is how it continued until Matthew Davies, Kington's sole county junior, managed to get level on the 17th and finally win one up playing at number one. |

Ben Tries But The Rest...
 | Ben Hughes fought a valiant rearguard action but lost 1 down on the 18th. The rest of the Kington team were totally outplayed. Perhaps Ben's gearing up for next week's Open, which he won last year.
There were some useful scores from one or two of the junior juniors who, because of the weather and the confusion caused by Thomas's 'friendly', were unable to play a match.
Outstanding was Nick Crum who, despite the poor weather conditions, turned in a score well below his handicap. Could he be favourite for the Stableford Open next week?
