The Opening Competition

The ladies kicked off their season on Easter Sunday with a Stableford competition. Perhaps because of the Bank Holiday period the number of entries was a little disappointing.

Nevertheless there was one phenomenal score:
The winner: Audrey Fox with 47 points (which resulted in her handicap being slashed from 36 to 30.7). Not bad when one considers that she failed to score on one hole!
Runner up: Joan Morgan 37 points
3rd: Chris Thomas 37 points
The 6th turned out to be ‘The Hidden Hole’ and Chris Thomas was the winner there with a 4 net 2!

Leading Figures from the Ladies' World of Golf

Leading figures from the world of golf met at Kington to toast Audrey Fox on her success.

Coronation Foursomes

The winners were Gill Lloyd and Audrey Fox (not again). You can see from the picture that they only just made it. Runners-up were Chris & Sherrie Hughes, who were closing on the rails.
Gill and Audrey go forward to represent Kington in the Regional Final, hopefully at St Mellons, Cardiff, where the going is expected to be firm.

West Bromwich

The West Bromwich Trophy for Lady Vets resulted in a win for Barbara Passey with 41 points on a countback on the back nine from Claire Burton.Third was Jane E. Burgoyne with 40 points. All three had immediate reductions in their handicaps.

Sunday Mail Team Event/Monmouth Match

The ladies lost in the third round to Habberley Golf Club. This was a good performance as they went out in the first round last year.

Kington lost to Monmouth by 2 ½ to 1 ½.
