Kington win at Southerndown
 | Kington sent two teams to contest the British Heart Foundation Championships at Southerndown, Bridgend on April 4.
The A team won the competition comfortably with 84 points from St Mellons, Cardiff, 80 and Bargoed third, with 76. Individual points scores were Ben Hughes 43, Dan Aldridge 41 and Sam Lloyd 38, with the two best scores counting. The next round will be played at Builth Wells in July and success there will mean a trip to the Belfry for the final.
The B team, consisting of Matthew Davies, Andrew Kettle and Jamie Hughes, gave a good account of itself but was out of the prizes. |

Sponsor Money
 | Between them the two Kington teams raised approximately £500 for the British Heart Foundation with some moneys still to come in. In fact the A team raised £268 and with more to collect will finish with a total in excess of £300. The As contributed the most sponsorship money of all the 28 teams at Southerndown.

Team Competition
 | The following day Kington hosted a team competition. Each team consisted of a gentleman, lady and two juniors.
Winners, with a fantastic score of 56 points, were that veritable old war-horse Mike Gittoes, the delectable Marion Weaver, the infant prodigy, Robert Stokes and Andrew Kettle (who redeemed himself after a disappointing round at Southerndown).
Runners-up with 47 points were Andy Gealy (club & Celtic professional), Audrey Fox (fresh from triumph in the Ladies' Section), Ben Hughes (our leading star at Southerndown) and promising young Matthew Burgoyne.
3rd were Malcolm Williams (recently returned from nine weeks golf in New Zealand), the delightful Barbara Passey, Matthew Davies (junior star) and dashing Ben George.
