SWIFTS U-12s 4 DORE VALLEY U-12s 1
Swifts U-12s continued their good start to the season, when they overcame a determined Dore Valley side to run out 4-1 winners. After last weeks heavy defeat Dore Valley set their stall out with five across the back, but they still started the game far more sprightlier than the Swifts, and their efforts were rewarded in the 8th minute when Smith's powerful shot from a free kick gave Reynolds no chance in the Swifts goal. Straight from the kick off Swifts nearly levelled, when Sam Crichard broke into the box but his shot was deflected onto the post and away for a corner. Swifts now began to dominate the game due to the efforts in midfield of Celvin Ndluvu, Chris Savidge and Luke Perry, they were rewarded when Sam Peplow equalised after a goalmouth scramble. As the half wore on Swifts should have added to their score but poor finishing left the half-time score at 1-1.
The second half began just as competitively with both sides working hard, but it was the Swifts defence of Jamie Bubb- Sacklyn, Alistair Park, Ashley Nelder and Ian Davies who were now dominating, this led to the Swifts midfield to take control of the game, the pressure paid off when Swifts were awarded a penalty for hand ball, Park gave the keeper no chance with a ferocious strike into the top of the net. Sam Crichard was now tearing the defence apart, but he just failed to score when he prodded wide. He made amends when a slick move down the right he crossed for Peplow to score with a neat finish. Dore Valley to their credit still tried to get forward, but the game was sewn up two minutes from time, when Ian Davies latched onto a clearance to hit a superb shot into the top corner from twenty yards. Swifts have their first hard test of the season when they travel to play Credenhill on Sunday. |
