CREDENHILL U-12s 2 LEDBURY SWIFTS U-12s 1
The Swifts can count themselves unlucky not to have got at least a draw from this game, but instead slipped to their first defeat of the season. As always this fixture is played in a highly competitive spirit, but it was Credenhill who had the better of the early exchanges and should have took the lead in the first minute, when the striker was put through, but he shot wide. Swifts slowly got their game together, and in their first meaningful attack took the lead, when Perry wasbrought down outside the box, Alistair Park stepped forward andgave the keeper no chance with an unstoppable strike into the top corner. The game now stepped up a gear as Credenhill searched for an equaliser, but Swifts central defenders Park and Bubb- Sacklyn held firm. Swifts wide men Crichard and Perry were causing a lot of problems, but Credenhills defence were doing just as good a job in cutting out any danger. With only 4 minutes of the half remaining Credenhill equalised, when after a long stoppage for a clash of heads Swifts went to sleep from the restart, slack marking aloud the striker plenty of time to easily score. H-T 1-1. The second half was just as frantic, with Credenhill trying to work the flanks more, but full back Davies and Nelderdid well to kep them in check. Perry and Crichard continued to have success down the wings, and were well supported from midfield by the hard working Davis and Savidge. Though chances were at a premium, Swifts found themselves in some good positions, and with a calmer head and a better final ball could have got more rewards from their good approach play. Then midway through the half Swifts were stunned when Credenhill took the lead, when a quick break down the left caughtthe defence out, the player then ran on to place the ball into the far corner. Swifts pressed hard for an equaliser, but a combination of good defending, poor finishing and some strange refereeing decisions, denied Swifts a deserved share of the spoils. Swifts are on cup duty this sunday when they are at home to Lads Club, KO 2-00pm. |
