BELMONT U-12s 0 LEDBURY SWIFTS U-12s 7
Swifts travelled to Belmont last sunday minus four of their regular players who were away on holiday, but still managed to put in a very strong performance to run out easy winners. With the changes to the team it took a while for the Swifts to settle down and get organised, so it was left to the defenders Ian Davies, Ashley Nelder, Alistair Park and Jamie Bubb-Sacklyn to keep Belmont at bay, which they did so with a solid display throughout the match. Adam Davies and Celvin Ndluvu were given the main midfield duties, and were well supported by Elliot Parsons. Midway through the half Swifts began to get on top, with Sam Crichard causing most of the problems on the right wing. It was from one of his runs that Swifts took the lead on 20 mins, when he was brought down in the box, Park stepped up to convert the penalty. With Swifts passing the ball a lot better now they took a two goal lead when good work down the left ended with a Nelder cross finding the unmarked Crichard who beat the keeper with a neat finish, h-t 0-2. Swifts second half performance was a brilliant team effort, full of commitment, good passing and a solid defence, and it wasn't long before they increased their lead, when Craig Hilling sent Crichard through to score his second. Belmont were finding it hard to put any attacks together as Swifts piled forward, and after many chances had gone begging Davies capped a fine display with a left foot shot into the corner. Swifts continued to press, and this time it was Sam Peplow who crossed for Crichard to complete his hat trick with a fine drive. With only 2 mins left Swifts added two more, firstly Crichard was again first to react to a loose ball to round the keeper and notch his fourth of the game, then Peplow turned on the edge of the area to fire in off the far post. Swifts play the 2nd round of the Wyvern Flooring Cup this sunday at home with another encounter against Hinton, 2pm ko. |
