LEOMINSTER MEDIEVAL FAIR

I SAW A FAIR FIELD FULL OF FOLK

Approaching the fair from town you are greeted by the sight of bright coloured banners along the roadside drawing you to gate where you are greeted by members of the town’s volunteer community. If arriving by car you will be marshalled to a parking area and asked for a small donation. Those arriving on foot, bus or bicycle will enjoy free admission to the fair.

The avenue of authentic fifteenth century banners leads you to the village green, ringed by colourful tents selling all manner of food and drinks, as well as carefully selected stalls by local charities, craftspeople and tradesmen. Moving away from the green are more lanes of stalls, again emphasising quality, craft and fair trade. The main avenue leads away from the green to the authentic fifteenth century encampment and trading area. In this authentic camp you can see representations of campaign life as is was at the time of the battle of Mortimers Cross

In the centre of the green you will be able to enjoy a series of arena shows including medieval dancing, fire theatre and culminating each day with a Grand Tourney show featuring armoured knights in hand to hand combat.

It is our intention to involve as many local charities and community groups at all levels to the event. Groups are invited to trade at the Fair, such a crafts made by people with disabilities, produce stalls or any other way of aiding their funds, whilst having an enjoyable week-end.

The underlying ethos of the event is sharing; the re-enactors give their time and skill for the enjoyment of the public and most site jobs are done by volunteers.
