Who are the Quakers?

"Quakers" is the generally recognised name for the Religious Society of Friends. There are more than 27,000 Quakers in Britain and approximately 250 of us in this area.
Quaker belief is rooted in the idea that there is 'that of God' in everyone.
We look to God as the source of life and inspiration, and we see the spirit
of God at work in the ordinary activities and experience of our daily life and
in the whole of creation
We are deeply committed to peace, truth and integrity, the care of the environment, the reform of the prison system and the alleviation of poverty.
Quaker Green Concern represents our attitude to environmental issues.
Our Hereford Meeting House is at 21 King St, not far from the Cathedral. Our service is called "Meeting for Worship" and is from 10.30 to 11.30a.m.
every Sunday. There is also a mid-week meeting from 12.30 to 1.00p.m. each Thursday.
Anyone is welcome to join us at these times in a contemplative silence from
which spoken ministry may arise

There are other local Quaker groups at Abergavenny, Almeley, Hay-on-Wye, Ledbury, Ludlow and Ross-on-Wye.
