CONGRATULATIONS to the Reserves in Reserve Shield Final WIN
 | Harpenden Rovers Reserves WON their second Trophy this season defeating Elizabeth Allen O.B. A by 2 - 0 in the final of the Reserve Shield. Two quality lob-shot goals, from Rick Russell in the first half and Barry Popplewell in the second, was enough to win the Reserve Shield for the second time in three years for Rovers Reserves.
Venue: Toulmin Drive. Time: 3.15pm Date: 6th April 2002 It was a comfortable victory in the end for the Rover's players, who always looked the more likely to score as the game progressed. Certainly Rover's keeper Paul Greene, whilst making some excellent stops early on, had less to do than in the final two weeks before.
This result was on the back of the team's, and the club's, first ever Benevolent Cup win two weeks previously. |

Rick Russell scores the first
 | A move down the full length of the right hand side of the pitch involving 4 players results in a perfectly executed lob over the keeper by Rick Russell 40 minutes into the game. 1 - 0.
The move started with Mick Cluskey winning the ball in the right-back position (?) and playing it to Paul Tate in right midfield, then on to Jarred Ellis who played a lovely floating ball inside the defence for Rick to run on to.

Barry Popplewell with the second goal
 | Following an intricate bit of foot work, and a neat one-two with the unsuspecting and unfortunate opposition right-back, Barry Popplewell plays a delicate lob with the outside of his right foot which clears the keeper and finishes in the far corner of the goal.
Only Barry would have shot, and scored, from there!
