TEXT FRAME
-The Capital pulls the strings which move us:it comes into our houses,it makes games of our feelings,it satisfied us with its reassurnring power.
This is the main tipic of "Amphitryon al factory" by Giuseppe Patellaro which, even treading the flow of the dialogues and the mechanisms of Plautus "Amphitruo",becomes a part of the clime of confusion and social crisis whose,so it seems to asser the author,we are unintentional protagonists and yielding victims. From the Plautine comedy stood out the bursting vitality of the sexual instinct(Jove),which overwhelmes the tediusness of the feelings codified by the marriage(between Amphytrion and Alcmena);but also the reshuffle pf the divine autority, which, after being submitted to this instinct, rose itself as a mediocre and paternal deus ex machina who revealed his wretched deceits to bring peace again to the unware pair's home.Amphitruo's cheeky free easy fascination has hallowed the Comedy to be transformed in a Muse which has inspired Vitale di Blois,Moliere and Kleist among the others.
Patellaro's version follows directly Plautus and tries to make his farcial triks cohabit with the rigorous mechanism of the world of factories. The result brands the incurable contrast between the goaded productive rythms which the Workers's life,Amphytrion by the turn, and the haughtility fantasy of the new god,the Capitalist. The same loving intrigues,on which the main part of the plot is based, seems to get estranged from a human logic to which only the object-Alcmena acts as interpreter in her "not understanding",in her clinging more to the coherence of her own feelings than to the morals which the capitalist and the Worker exibit in the epilogue with the auspicated and improbable allince between the power and its victims.(R.I.).
