About the Choirs

Amabile Choirs are based in Kendal with members from an area extending south to Lancaster and north to Penrith and covering all of South Lakeland.

There are three choirs - the main choir for girls aged up to 19, the training choir for 8 and over, and the pre-training choir for 5-7 year-olds.

Amabile is an exciting choir to belong to. Girls receive excellent tuition and performance experience, taking part in concerts, competitions, workshops and masterclasses.

The choir has toured abroad to Belgium and the US, and has sung in the Royal Festival Hall and Bridgewater Hall. In 2002 Amabile main choir won the Senior Children's Choir class at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod with an outstanding mark of 194 out of 200!

In June 2004, Amabile appeared on the BBC's 'Songs of Praise from the Eden Valley' with other Cumbrian organisations. On 20 July the main choir is heading off to Provence, France, to take part in the 9eme Festival Choral International de la St Baume. In October the choir is once again invited to Europe - this time to perform in the city of Thessaloniki during the ancient Festival of Dimitria.
