12/5/05 1st Group Reading of New Play!
Yes, on the night we got our new members we did a session on improvisation. The team leaders were Amy, Holly and Myself (By the way you were all great!) . Then after we had done that we sat down as a group and read through the 1st 10 pages of the new play,

19/5/05 INSPECTOR JENKINS GETS GO AHEAD!
I got some fantastic news on that Thursday evening. The next Arnside young players play will be my play, INSPECTOR JENKINS: MURDER AT THE MANSIONPresent at the meeting were Myself (Ben L. Maden), Steph Woodburn, Doreen Brockbank (Leader of Adult Players), Sue Pidgeon (Mother nature) and Jean Hirstle.
All of us had read the 1st draft of the script and fully enjoyed it. So I was obviously happy to have some positive feedback!
We will be holding auditions for the group in the Autumn (around August) then we will be able to start the rehearsals.
The script still needs a bit of tweaking but that won't take long.
The President of Arnside Players, Doreen Brockbank has actually said to us, "I would actuallt like to send this script off to the BBC young writers department once it has been performed."
HOORAY!!!!

July- Goodbye Mr. B
Arnside Players recieved some bad news in July.
Our president, Mrs. Doreen Brockbank told us the tragic news that her husband had died.
The late Mr. Brockbank was very involved with "Players" in the background.
Lots of people have given their condolences to Doreen. So from all of us at the young players we would like to say goodbye Mr. Brockbank and keep strong Doreen.

17/8/05- The Auditons Will Be Held Soon!
Just a message to everyone at young players.
The auditions will be held sooner than you think. They were scheduled for September 15th but will now be held on SEPTEMBER 8TH!!!
Have a good time everyone! Remember if you aren't chosen to get a part we will need people to help make the set (Painting, building, etc.), we will need people to help with props (Set and props will be done with Anita but I will most probably come and visit to check out the progress!), we may also need help in costume (If we do you will be working with Pauline. Again I will probably see how that goes on!), backstage (eg. Lights. I honestly don't know who will be doing them). We may even have doorpeople! If we have an interval there will be refreshments so maybe you could help with that! REMEMBER AN INTERVAL MAY NOT HAPPEN!
However I want to see you all get a part but that really isn't possible.
Break a leg at the auditions y'all!
-Ben & Steph

Yes the news everyone has been dreading is here at last! As you know the Inspector Jenkins auditions are being held in September and now the panel have been announced!
The X-Factor is back on saturday and I assure you they may have Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh but our panel is much scarier!
On the panel will be:
1.) Ben L. Maden (Young Player and WRITER of the play!) 2.) Steph Woodburn (Head of young players!) 3.) Sue Pidgeon (Young players supervisor!) 4.) Jean Hirstle (Young players supervisor and comitte treasurer!)
HA, HA, HA, HA!!!
No only joking! We'll be nice. I promise. Heck do any of us act like Simon Cowell! Honestly we'll be nice! PROMISE!!!

6/10/05- HERE IS THE CAST LIST!!!
 | Well everyone I can now reveal the cast for our next production, "INSPECTOR JENKINS: MURDER AT THE MANSION".
Everyone did so well at the auditions and reading but is the cast list and who they are playing!
THE CAST
Izzie..........Inspector David Jenkins Amy..........Bob Ben..........Lord Appleton Carrie-Ann..........Sylvia Hollow Jade..........Mrs. Susanne Hollow Holly..........Dorothy Hollow Kasey..........Martha Phillips Natasha.........Alexis Miller Charlotte.........Betty The Cleaner Lauren..........Alice Potters Emma..........Julie Clamentine Rosalind..........Bethany Swade
Unfortuantly 3 of our young players didn't make it. So commiserations to Eleanor, Chelsea and the other Holly. You guys were great but unfortuantly we couldn't cast evryone. Everyone on the judging panel can't stress enough how hard it was to cast this play! However these 3 young players aren't being left out! Oh no, you can't escape us! They will be helping Anita and Doreen with the set and props, plus they get the chance to work with Pauline in the costume department plus they get to help with make-up which they are extremely excited about!
In other casting news, I (Ben) am hoping to get adult player, Andrew to play Richard Hollow, the man who is murdered. To see if Andrew accepts this role keep checking the news section!

2/1/06- Just A Reminder!!!
This is just a reminder to say that the Arnside Young Players will be meeting again on THE 5TH OF JANUARY!!! |
2/1/06- Creator To Meet With Producer & Players President
Yes, I (Ben L. Maden) am meeting Doreen Brockbank (President of Players) and Steph Woodburn (Leader of young Players and Co-Producer Of Jenkins) on Wednesday January 4th to discuss (and possibly construct) the stage. We will also be discussing the play.
We'll let you know what is said and done at the meeting A.S.A.P!

4/2/06- Ben L. Maden Attends Producers Meeting
 | Well, hello there! Yes, it's me Ben and I've just finished the meeting mentioned above. Firstly, Doreen (President of Players) could not attend the meeting however she had spoken to Steph earlier in the week (or possibly last week). The meeting was held t my house. Steph came over at 10:00 AM and the "Producers Meeting" begun (Oh, I forgot to mention, we had drinks made first. I had a cup of tea and Steph had some coffee!). The meeting covered many things and we finally sorted out the problems that needed solving!!! Most of the discussion was about the staging (hopefully I'll be able to get a rough plan of the stage put on the site soon, so watch this space!!!). We have worked out how the stage of the set will look (an idea designed by the wonderful Doreen!). We also talked about what the backstage crew can do (I think you girls will love these jobs!). Also discussed was the second Inspector Jenkins play, which I think is now safe to say, has been commissioned!!! The meeting lasted an hour and lots of other interesting things were said, which I'll put on the news page A.S.A.P

4/1/06- Bye, bye Alison!!!
The character of Alison will now be gone from the new play, "Inspector Jenkins: Murder At The Mansion".
Don't worry though Charlotte (That's who plays Alison). You see, you'll still have to learn your lines! You see the character will still be in the play but we're just changing her name!!!
You see there a 3 characters begining with the letter "A": 1.) Alison 2.) Alice 3.) Alexis This makes it a bit confusing so we thought we should change the name "Alison" to something else.
So what will Alison's new name be??? Well we don't know. Myself and Steph have decided that Charlotte should choose her new name. What will it be? You'll have to keep checking the news page to find out!!!
|
4/1/06- Stage Revealed!!!
Yes you've probably seen the diagram of the stage in the news article "Ben Attends Producers Meeting". This is the design by Doreen Brockbank which I have now done on computer. Doreen, Steph and I were all 100% pleased with this stage design and it's what we'll be using!!!
So what do you think?

6/1/05- Bye Bye Alison and Hello Betty!!!
Yes, from now on the character of "Alison The Cleaner", in Arnside Players' new play, "INSPECTOR JENKINS: MURDER AT THE MANSION", will now be called "Betty The Cleaner".
The choice was made by young actress, Charlotte. She says, "Well I've thought of a good name for her. I'd like to call her Betty!".
Producers Ben L. Maden and Steph Woodburn both agreed that the name was fine. Good choice Charlotte!

6/1/06- Ben L Maden Applies For Hit Channel 4 Show!!!
Yes here's some exciting news for you all (except for Steph who already knows.
I, Ben L. Maden have sent off for and recieved an application form for hit Channel 4 show, COUNTDOWN.
I've always loved the show and I'd love the chance to star on it. I'm good at it too (Maybe being a writer helps!!!)!
So, when I send the form off I will get an audition (there's a waiting list of like 2 months for an audition.) and then if I do well, I'll hopefully be on COUNTDOWN.
Countdown, is a great game show on Channel 4 now hosted by Des Lynam (He replaced the late Richard Whitely, last year) and Carol Vorderman.
Steph Woodburn says she's had an audition but didn't get on the show because she wasn't very good at the numbers. Luckily I'm good at both the letters and numbers games! However will the Conundrum let me down? Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows?!
Well, wish me luck. Well, actually don't, instead tell me to break a leg!!!

6/1/05- Ben L. Maden Gets 2nd Role
Yes Ben L. Maden was told recently that he will also be playing murder victim "Richard Hollow" in his new play "INSPECTOR JENKINS: MURDER AT THE MANSION".
Ben also plays the role of "Lord Appleton".
This descision was made by both Ben L. Maden and Steph Woodburn. It was also down to an idea made by Jade who plays "Susanne Hollow" in the play. She said "Wouldn't it be easier and look better if Ben played the role?" and we both agreed with her, as did just about evry othe Young Player!!!

28/5/06- Jade Is No Longer Mrs. Hollow
Well folks it saddens me to tell you that Jade will no longer be playing the role of Mrs. Susanne Hollow.
This shock announcement is due to the fact that Jade has not been attending rehearsals so director Steph Woodburn has decided to recast the roll.
Steph and I (Ben) have been in talks about who should take over the role. When a decision is made and announced to the group we will reveal it to you all her on the site.
We don't know if this means Jade has left players or not. Again, if she has, we will let you know.
