We are a small friendly club of some 50 active beekeepers with apiaries from Great Langdale in the west to Ingleton in the east and Melling in the south. We offer help and informal instruction to those wishing to learn about bees and honey, and evening meetings, apiary visits during the season, annual convention, honey show, and annual dinner etc. The annual subscription includes spouses, and includes membership of the British Beekeepers' Association and their £5 million insurance cover against third party claims arising from beekeeping activities - very important in this litigious age! Beekeeping is an absorbing craft that predates history; the bees have evloved with the flowering plants over the last 200 million years, so knowledge and confidence develops with experience and the guidance we can offer. |
