CWIK SURVEY UPDATE – 30-05-08


The total number of individuals surveyed has now increased to 853 through the inclusion of those who were surveyed at the Health Food Store. The detail is as follows: Birdcage, 513; Morrisons, 115; Asda, 164; Oxfam, 23, and Health Food Store, 38.


Analysis of the responses to the questions yields the following data:


Question 1a, asked of all except Asda respondents:

Do you agree or disagree with the statement that there is an urgent need to reduce the amount of plastic packaging?


Agree 679 (98.5%), Disagree 10 (1.5%). Total: 689.



Question1b, asked only at Asda;

Do you agree that many food products include unnecessary packaging?


Agree 162 (98.8%), Disagree, 2 (1.2%). Total: 164.


Reconciliation: total number responding to Q. 1 = 853 (689 + 164).



Question 2: Would you stop using a particular shop if they stopped providing plastic bags.


No 796 (93.3%), Yes 48 (5.6%), Undecided 9 (1.1%). Total, 853.
