The Park House Trust
 | Hawkshead is a small village in the heart of the Lake District, which is a popular tourist venue. Visitor pressure, planning restrictions and high property prices limit the facilities for the many local clubs and community groups.
The opportunity has arisen for the eight scouting and guiding units to purchase the former junior school from Cumbria County Council. The agreed purchase price is £135,000.
The Park House Trustees are working to raise the funds to secure the building for the long-term benefit of the community.

Plans for Park House
Park House will be modified to provide low cost pack holdidays house accommodation for Scout and Guide units from other areas to visit The Lake District and enjoy the many cultural and outdoor facilities available in Hawkshead. We will be able to accomodate 28 people in bunk bed accomodation.
To enable us to open this facility by April 2002 our immediate task is to raise the £23,000 to purchase the building by the end of April and to raise a further £70,000 needed to complete the modifications. This may seem a daunting target but once the building is purchased we are assured that it will be easier to obtain further grants for modifications.
A superb effort has been made in raising funds so far. If you could help by sending a donation we are registered to recover the tax through Gift Aid. Please contact Judith Myers on 015394 41245 or our treasurer John Deavin on 015394 36574. |
