Success!!

The Park House Trust are delighted to report that we have now raised the £135,000 necessary to purchase Park House. We bought the building on the 22nd of June 2001.

£0 - £160,000 in three hectic years

A community at work

Our local community have supported us in many different ways. Many local groups have donated funds and helped us with our fundraising events. The foot and mouth crisis has had a severe impact on our fundraising; the annual duck race, boat dressing, canoe paddle and large raffle have all had to be abandoned.

Our stalls have raised £28,550 to date

In the past three years our largest fundraiser has been our stalls. We have opened as many weekends as possible and at least five days each week in the school holidays. We sell a huge variety of items, both handmade crafts and collectables . No clothes!
If anyone requires a beautiful stylish wedding dress size 14, or a very large pitch pine book case, or a knitting machine which cost nearly £1000 new, then don’t delay visit Park House today! These items plus 100’s of others are for sale at Park House during the school holidays and at weekends.
We have also for sale uniform and gift items for Guides and Brownies. Also for badge collectors obsolete badges.

Another £20,000

We have sold over 6,000 pens, 26,000 raffle tickets, 1,500 walk sheets and 1000’s of books!

We also recycle ink jet cartridges and these can be brought to us at the stall at any time, or please ring if you have a lot to collect. £500 has so far been raised!

During the summer months there is a display of 80 years of Guiding in Hawkshead, so if you are an ex Guide and can maybe name some Guides or Scouts in the display, or are interested, please pay us a visit.

Our next £50,000

Our next big event is a 'Singathon' at the Leisure Centre in Kendal on October the 6th. Cumbria South Guide Association and Park House together hope to raise around £6,000. About 600 Rainbows, Brownies and Guides will be sponsored to sing 50 songs. If you would like to sponsor us, or perhaps work for a company who might, please contact us at Brown Owl, Park House, Main Street, Hawkshead. Cumbria.

The next £50,000 is needed to modify the building into Pack Holiday accommodation. When completed we will be able to sleep 28 in bunk beds and have a new toilet and shower block, a new kitchen, a garden with tables and chairs and everything on hand to have a brilliant Pack Holiday, possibly with a Beatrix Potter theme, as two miles from Park House is where she wrote Peter Rabbit and many other books.

Units throughout the country have responded to our appeal raising necessary funds to hopefully see a new facility in Hawkshead in 2002!

I would like to thank everyone who has helped our appeal to reach its first target of buying the building and please if anyone out there would like to help in any way please drop us a line.

Please all you Brownies, particularly this year, LAH to make a Pack Holiday house in Hawkshead.

Thank you again.
