Rothay Bowling League (Crown green bowls)
The Rothay Bowling league was formed in 1961 to further the interest in bowling in villages within the area bounded by the Rivers Kent and Crake. In 2007 it comprises twenty-six teams from thirteen clubs divided into two divisions. The clubs represented are Allithwaite, Ambleside, Bowness, Burneside, Coniston, Crosthwaite & Lyth, Hawkshead, Langdale, Leven Valley (Haverthwaite), Levens, Lower Holker, Staveley and Windermere. The league is affiliated to the Cumbria County Crown Green Bowling Association and all players must be registered with the British Crown Green Bowling Association under whose laws games are played.
