OUR MOTTO IS VENTURE/ADVENTURE
Situated on the western edge of Warton Aerodrome (access via Bank Lane in Warton), the Sqn meets every Monday and Thursday evening between 7pm and 9.30pm.
As part of the Air Cadet Organisation, which is funded through the Royal Air Force, the Sqn is actively involved throughout the year with rifle shooting at a number of local ranges, powered flying at RAF Woodvale, Gliding at Samlesbury and visits to RAF Stations including attending Summer Camps at RAF Leuchars in Scotland, where they fly the Tornado F3, RAF High Wycombe and RAF Sealand.
During the warmer months, sport activities take place including football, rugby, netball, hockey, X country and athletics. Orienteering, map reading and radio field exercises also take place. Our Sqn is very lucky in that we also have two canoe instructors as part of our staff team.
The Sqn is also heavilly involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and this will involve helping out in the local community, and practise/qualifying expeditions where we could be walking in the hills around Wales, the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales, plus taking on new skills for the Skills section.
All of this is outside our usual parade evenings. You could say we are very a busy squadron. Activities on the squadron include Drill practice, uniform preparation, aviation subjects, initiative exercises, quiz nights, projects and sports in the adjoining playing field.
If this sounds like what you are looking for then come along and see us on a Monday or Thursday evening where we can show you what we are about. For further information, take a look at our Sqn Website at www.967atc.co.uk.
Go on, have a look,
