What Is 'Abram Community Link'?

Firstly, ACL is not a parish or town council. In the past, Abram had its own Urban District Council, which mergerd with Wigan when local government was reorganised in the 1970s. Some townships in other districts still have parish or town councils with limited powers at a lower tier than the district council.

Secondly, it is not a forum for individuals to pursue their own grievances against Wigan Council. The ward Councillors hold regular surgeries at the district office to deal with the problems of their individual constituents.

Abram Community Link is an organisation that attempts to bring together all those who have an interest in the well-being of the community of Abram. It aims to include people who live, work and play in Abram, together with ward Councillors, Council officers and others who can offer help to the community.

Where Does 'ACL' Meet?

Abram Community Link meets at the community room at Abram Library on Vicarage Road. Meetings are held at 7pm on the first Tuesday of each month.
