The General Council meets annually: it is chaired by the National President and consists of the NEC, Area Presidents, and each Club's voting delegate - over 150 people. The NEC and National Officers 2010-11 -- The Association is administered by the National Executive Committee, which consists of the following officers: National President Gwyneth Millard National Vice-President Robert Ramsey Past National President David Grainger National Secretary Ken Crilly National Treasurer Alice Oddy National Education Director National Development Officer District Presidents from the 8 Districts Central District Eastern District Midland District Northern District North Western District South Eastern District South Western Ditrict Western District Other National Officers, who are not members of the NEC itself include: The Minutes Secretary The Magazine Editor The Materials Officer The National Archivist The Conference Convenor The Webmaster District Stucture The next link in the chain is at District level. There are eight Districts nationwide. The elected District President is automatically a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC). Clubs, Areas and District run annual speaking competitions with the winners at each level going on to the National Speaking Competition which is held once a year at the ASC Annual Conference. Central District Eastern District Midland District Northern District North Western District South Eastern District South Western Ditrict Western District Area Structure within Western District Within the Western District there are three Areas. A number of local Clubs are grouped together as an Area. Areas run various activities involving their Clubs and often include inter-club speaking competitions, School Speech Competitions and Joint Social Events. Each Area has an Area President to co-ordinate the activities. Regular Area Council meetings are held involving the clubs and an Area Conference which includes the AGM and Speaking Competitions. The following list details the Areas with their attendant clubs. The clubs are open to male and female members unless stated otherwise.
