2003 EXHIBITION

Bolton Camera Club 2003 Exhibition Bolton Camera Club will hold its annual photographic exhibition at The Bolton Museum and Art Gallery from the 10th of January until the 7th of Febuary, the photographs will then go on to form part of a larger exhibition at Bolton Parish Church from the 14th of Febuary for one month where all the images will be judged for the annual awards in the several different catogories. Current work by members includes colour, black & white prints and an excellent display of colour slides. Although many of our photographers are happy to use the traditional wet process ie develop the film and make prints through an enlarger some workers are now scanning negatives into their computers and editing their images through programmes such as PhotoShop etc. A few of our members have gone the whole hog and now use digital cameras computers and printers to express their creativity or just have fun. The club was founded in 1897 and has seen many changes over the years such as the use as large format plate cameras in the early days then moving onto medium and 35mm formats. One of the big changes in the 20th century was the occasional appearance of colour prints in the monthly competitions and when colour transparency film became widely available many members took to it immediately and our monthly competitions had a new medium to enjoy. Now with the club encouraging the use of digital equipment Bolton Camera Club can only go from strength to strength realising that the possibilities with the new technology are endless, (latest examples can be seen at the exhibition). The club would like to invite anyone with an interest in photography to come along to one or two of our meetings and if they like what they see they are welcome to join and enjoy our various events throughout the year. Bolton Camera Club meets at 8pm every Thursday at The Trinity Methodist Church, Bury Road, Tonge Fold, Bolton.
