Danielle Cooper

15-year-old Danielle Cooper has been diagnosed as suffering from the condition known as Fibrous Dysplasia, a disabilitating disease that attacks and weakens the bone structure. We are sad to report that she will be out of football for some time.
Danielle is the longest serving player of Burnley F.C Girls having joined on her 10th birthday and has never previously missed a game, a total of 80 appearances and scoring 143 goals, once scoring 17 in a match against local rivals Blackburn Rovers. Danielle was also Captain of the Burnley team that won the U14s National Championships, the premier Moss Farm tournament, and the Lancashire “Treble”. Lancashire Captain and Centre of Excellence player Danielle has been suffering undiagnosed from this condition. Though she has been in some pain and becoming progressively weaker she has bravely continued to play and even succeeded to be selected for the England trials.
We wish Danielle all the best in her recovery and hope that one day she will be able to once more take her rightful place with Burnley F.C Girls. |
