Tree blunders gift points to Punch Hotel FC
Two Cherry Tree errors gifted Punch FC the points as defensive errors cost the side yet again. Cherry were hit with bombshell news just four days prior to kick-off that their Player/Captain and Star defender, Daniel Logan, would be ruled out for two weeks with an injured foot. In his place, Robinson, Yarnold and Riley were solid in defence until, Cherry, with a free-kick on the half-way line, pondered for too long and therefore the ref gave it the other way with all cherry players in advanced attacking positions leaving a one on one and thus a simple tap-in for the opposition striker. The Cherry players again gifted a soft goal when the opposition gained a free-kick on the edge of the Cherry box. Once the ball was struck the Cherry wall parted as though Moses (pictures above) had suddenly appeared leaving Slater stranded. P.Slater - 7 - Pulled off some good saves however surely some of the blame for the second Punch goal must lie with his positioning of his wall. C.Riley - 7 - Booked . . . . . . . . . again. P.Yarnold - 8 - Surprisingly lasted all game and played very very well with little support from his team-mates. And.Robinson - 7 - Good game up until his Moses act in the free-kick which cost Cherry dearly. Ant.Robinson - 7 - Cherry missed him while he was away and although his display was yet another solid one at the heart of the midfield he is still lacking fitness. N.Bell - 8 - Outstanding striking game for Cherry but this guy needs support in order to flourish. P.Doherty - 6- Lack of fitness from the guy who likes to call himself versatile didnt help his cause.
