Cherry 1-1 ACME.....
Cherry Tree FC could only manage a 1-1 draw with second-placed ACME, a result which you would have thought would please the squad but now CTFC need to win boht of their remaining matches if they are to stand a chance of promotion from the seven-a-side basement division.
Cherry went one up mid-way through the first half through a sublime four-man move started by the irresistable Logan. The finishing toe-poke coming off Tony Robbo (pictured above).
Cherry seemed to have the game under control until a glaring error of judgement from the usually reliable Caddick let in an attacking ACME player who took his teams only chance of the game well.
Manager Dan Logan refused to criticise Caddick: "Tony's had a great season for us chiiping in with crucial goals at turning points in games so it would be a shame for his season to be remembered by him attempting to be maradona and parade on the edge of our box, getting dispossesed and conceding a goal and any chance we have of going up."
Paul Slater and Norman Bell were instrumental in giving the opposition a hard-time. Slater pulling off two fabulous saves and Bell terrorising the ACME defence.
P.Slater - 9 - Faultless for the goal. Good all round display.

D.Logan - 10 - Faultless for the goal. Good all round display.
C.Riley - 9 - Faultless for the goal. Good all round display.
Ant.Robinson - 8 - Wouldn't like to blame anybody but was his fault for the goal.
N.Bell - 10 - Worked tirelessly with no support from his partner Sucdik.
A.Sudnik - 3 - Played like a stranger but not bad considering he lost eight pints of blood in Preston the night before.
P.Doherty - 9 - Injured not long after he came on, defending could be his forte. |
