Seeing four walls day in day out is no fun. Imagine that and not being able to get out of the house at all.
Contact the Elderly aims to alleviate the isolation and loneliness felt by elderly people. We have over 210 groups set up around the UK.
The Contact idea is very simple and effective. A group of volunteer drivers use their own cars to collect the same elderly people once a month on a Sunday afternoon. Together they visit a volunteer host family for tea and an informal social afternoon. Groups are kept small so everyone can easily get to know each other. Outings provide a unique opportunity for fun, companionship and a chance to make new friends in lives often characterised by isolation and loneliness.
