Burnley Lets scheme is now being re-launched as East Lancs Lets. Anyone in East Lancs can join! Everyone has valuable skills and goods to share! LETS stands for Local Exchange Trading Scheme, and Lets is about local people exchanging goods, skills and services with each other without the need of money! It works like a barter system, and we will be 'bartering' in LONKS (a breed of Lancashire Sheep!). LETS is a great way for people to trade goods and services. It works on the idea that everyone has valuable skills and goods to share. Offers and requests in the past have included childcare, transport, food, DIY, tuition, housework, gardening and IT. LETS is a great way of bringing people together and keeping your wealth in the area that you live! Each member registers their account (initially manually, or through our website which is currently being developed). You'll get your own personal account number. You give us a list of services and skills you wish to offer in trade. A members' directory of available skills, goods and services is drawn up - both manually and online - which will be updated quarterly. Members trade directly with each other, initially by phone or through socials - but we are also hoping to make this possible on-line through our website. 'LETS LONK':- When you use a service or buy something, you pay in LONKS and your account is debited/credited in LONKS! INTERESTED???
