was born in Haworth, 1834 and baptised in 1835. |

I believe that the following data is probably correct for James Smith...... |
| |
| |
James Smith born in 1804 in Haworth,
the son of William Smith and Hannah Sugden of Haworth, Yorkshire
| |
James's parents - William Smith and Hannah Sugden were married in 1803.
(Note - James had named his second son Sugden after his own mother's maiden name)
| |
| |
***1871 Census Data given below is of the family of William Smith (eldest son of James Smith & Hannah Shackleton). Note that William had followed the same example & gave the name Shackleton to his second son, after his own mother's maiden name.

July 06:
I have been having some interesting findings for my Smiths and some of
my ggg grandfathers family were born in Dewsbury which I have heard is
close to Rothwell. No wonder its so hard to find some people when the Parishes
change over the years. |

Aug 06:
I haven't found out anything of Benjamin Smiths parents, James and Mary or Marian.
I did find some of their family Christened at Dewsbury but not my gg grandfather Joseph. Just a couple of his siblings. All I know
about him is Rothwell Parish. Sure is confusing with different towns named as birth places for some of the same family.
I have checked Leeds indexes with no luck
If anyone comes across any info I sure would be happy to hear. |
