The Public Health Acts 1936 and 1961

The PHA 1936 required the adoption of New Model Byelaws by all authorities and give powers to have these applied by default if local councils failed to adopt.
The PHA 1961 gave powers to abolish byelaws and introduce building regulations in the interests of building economy and standardisation, thus reducing costs.
