The Fellowship and Friendliness of the LAA is a prime feature of our Association and all who join us are assured of a warm welcome.
MEMBERSHIP The Association is not solely for writers, but is for anyone interested in Lancashire Literature and History.
OBJECTS The objects of the Association are to foster and stimulate public interest in all aspects and forms of literature, both Lancashire orientated and general, as well as preserving an interest in Lancashire History and Traditions.
MEETINGS Presently the Association holds three Saturday afternoon meetings each March and October in Chorley and June in Lytham St Annes. The March meeting is the Annual General Meeting. At meetings other than the AGM there is a speaker, and at all meetings there is entertainment by members.
THE RECORD -The LAA Magazine The official journal of the LAA is issued quarterly free to members and includes reports on meetings, announcements, news items, results and placed entries of the Competitions. The Editor also welcomes contributions from members. Extra copies are available at �1 per copy.
LIBRARY The increasingly valuable LAA Library is housed in the Local Studies Department, Accrington Central Library, St James Street, Accrington. It consists of over 2000 volumes covering all phases of Lancashire Literature. Membership of the Library is included in the subscription. Books may be borrowed through branches of the Lancashire Library, but members are encouraged to visit the Library for themselves.
