The Annual Competitions are open to members only
This year the competitions will change and six cups will be awarded as detailed below:
The Batty Cup: for a poem in standard English (max 100 lines)
The Scholes Cup: for a poem in Lancashire dialect (max 100 lines)
The William Baron Cup: for an article on any theme (max 1500 words)
The Pomfret Cup: for a piece of prose in Lancashire dialect (max 1500 words)
The Mercer Cup: for a short story in standard English (max 1500 words)
The Brian Mitchell Cup: a story, poem of piece of prose for children (max 1000 words/40 lines - the age group it was written for must also be specified)
The LAA Writer of the Year Rosebowl is awarded to the most outstanding entry chosen independently from the winners of the Cups.

The Cups, Awards and Certificates are presented at the June meeting of the Association.
