MEMORIAL QUEST
 | I had the idea for a Memorial donated by the North East Lincolnshire Branch, dedicated to the Fallen of The Korean War.
I personally, nor the Branch, had the funds to finance the Project, so I had to devise some money raising event,So Idecide to organise a N.E Area Reunion,in either Spring or Summer and it would be for a Weekend Fri .Sat.& Sunday the town chosen for this event was Cleethorpes.Onthe Friday there would be a Meet and Greet.this would be at the Royal Naval Club.this wuld start when the first Veterans and their Wives arrived the Chairmen of the club would be there to welcome and there would be a Buffet and Music in the Evening and the Concert would be put on for them and a Raffle woulkd be done the Money raised would be shared between my Fund and theirs.On Sat the morning would be free time for the Couples to do what they wished till 19.00hrs as I had organised a Big Band Dance and Buffet the coist of this would be £7.50p per person.The Dance Hall will accommade 400 dancers and the Bar could easy cope with the Vererans & Wives,On the Sunday I organised a Church Parade and Service at ST Peters Church on Parade at 11.15hrs church 12.00hrs I decide to visit the to have words with the Vicar before the Parade as the Mmorial had been delivered on the Friday and placed in front of The alter I was so pleased with the Memorial is was so beutifiul and I IN THE ChurcH when they arrived would feal the same as I. In the Church was the lady mayors Sec who sent me a letter poraising not only my efforts but also how well the B.K.V.A, Veterans had supported me, After the Parade the Lady Mayor invited allto the Mansion House for a drink and a Buffet when that ended I said thank you to all who and come and supported my quest for a memorial.after all had departed and I too had thanked all in Cleethorpes I too left to go home p.s when all the Monies and the collection had been collected My Quest for a Memorial wood be paid for .You now see this on my website did we do.have some photoes which will be shown at a later date |
