HOME SWEET HOME !!!
Each year Nightsafe sees more and more young people who have nowhere safe to live. Since opening its doors 10 years ago Nightsafe has helped over 4,000 young people overcome many problems and obstacles in their lives. Many of these young people leave home because they have no choice, they may need to escape violence, abuse or conflict at home. They may be unable to find work and many are just told to leave.
Nightsafe provides a three night stay emergency shelter for up to five young homeless people aged 16-24. It offers a warm welcome, someone to talk to, food and shelter.
Nightsafe's day centre "The Fusebox" offers day time provision for the young people staying in the night shelter and other young people who may be in crisis. They are encouraged to use the day centre for training and leisure activities, helping them build confidence and basic life and social skills, leading back into more formal training, education and employment and to regain a stake in the local community.
The Resettlement Manager works alongside the young people to access move on accommodation, ensuring they don't return to the streets.
Nightsafe Hostel - a shared house accommodating four young people 16-18. The project provides a home and an individual life and social skills training package, which can last from 6-9 months.
Woodvale Project - a final step project before full independent living. It is based in Darwen and aimed at young people aged 17-25 who have the basic skills for semi independent living. The young people have all the responsibilities involved in independent accommodation with support on hand to advise and assist them to gain the skills and confidence to maintain their own tenancy and to turn a bare flat into a home.
Nightsafe Training Workshops - workshops related to youth homelessness, support needs for young people, and keyworking skills are just a few of the workshops that can be provided.
Volunteering - help is always required at Nightsafe particularly to staff the Night Shelter and Hostel. Full training will be given and expenses paid.
