Station game ends on sour note as Hopwood under more pressure
Forrest UK 0 Station Hotel FC 0
Station FC again suffered yet another heavy defeat last night, losing 3-0 to 2nd placed Forrest UK. The Preston Old Road based outfit, who had a strong side after welcoming back a number of players dominated the game. However, they fell two goals down in the opening two minutes after some hideous defending. Manager Jamie Hopwood, who started on the bench to look at what was going wrong without the pressures of playing, was visibly fuming at the start they made.
However, Station kept their heads up and carved out several openings. The lively Paul Warnock led the line well up front, with Sargeson and Lysons providing good foil as back up from midfield. Lee Kenny made up the midfield and he battled well, putting in some great challenges; he also went close with a long range effort after just 5 minutes. Forrest UK should feel disappointed with themselves today after moaning the whole game every time they were tackled.
The constant moaning fired up the Station players, with several bone-crunching challenges flying in and several off the ball incidents. Eventually, things boiled over with several players squaring up to each other - the referee had to intervene. Shortly after, Lysons kicked out at a Forrest player and was sent off.
Late on, Forrest made the game safe when Dawson was caught off his line on a Station counter attack to make the scores 3-0. A fight broke out at the end of the game to end a vicious encounter.
Manager Jamie Hopwood is now under severe pressure from Station landlord John Southworth and could well be given his P45 if results don’t improve drastically. Station are now bottom of the league, claiming just 4 points all season.
