18 Plus Group
Trinity 18 Plus Group is a Self-Advocacy Group for disabled people. It meets on Monday evenigns at Trinity Centre. Members have organised many new social activities and events in the last year, including visits to several pubs and restaurants! A grant from Lancashire County Council Youth and Community Service helped the group organise a residential training course. A grant from the Awards for All Lottery fund enabled the group to buy IT equipment, including digital camera and video. The new equipment has encouraged the group to undertake IT training at Database, and soon members will have their own website. Through developing IT and communications skills members will now be able to link with other groups with similar aim, both in the UK and transnationally.
18 Plus group members aim to develop links with the Clitheroe Meteor Club, and it will develop IT links with INCLUDID, a group of disabled people in Cape Town, South Africa. INCLIDID is managed by Susan Grime, a Clitheronian and former 18 Plus Group staff member.
